New York Look…

I’m obsessed with New York Magazine’s fashion spin-off, New York Look. More like a primary source rather than your typical fashion mag, New York Look breaks down all of the best collections of the S/S ‘08 season. Not only are you given access to color, silhouette, and beauty trends, but you also get to see all the juicy, not-so-publicized details of fashion week, including runway backdrops, front row attendees, and designer inspirations. My favorite spread, titled “From Every Angle,” gave a photographic montage of all the front row and backstage action.

Marimekko for H&M…

I’m so excited about Marimekko’s collaboration with H&M, which is due to launch this April. The collection of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel will feature the firm’s signature prints from the 50s through the 70s. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of the tunic dresses!

Louise Loves…Keith Haring Prints

Keith Haring is one of my favorite artists, so you can imagine how excited I was to see his influence in Alexander McQueen’s latest McQ collection. My favorite piece is this Men’s t-shirt. Unfortunately, the print wasn’t used in any women’s garments, but I still love it none the less.

Fall coats…Tulle

Over the weekend Leo and I headed over to Lambertville, NJ.  It’s a cute area that has a handful of small boutiques and vintage shops.  I was shopping at Bucks County Dry Goods (a great small chain of eclectic wares).   I picked up a coat by Tulle which is super chic.  I didn’t post a picture of it, because the pic on their site looks lame, but here is the link to it.  The above is another really cute number featured in Marie Claire.

More furry vests…

Looping back to the furry vest debate, mck mentioned that the Sartorialist recently took an awesome picture of a girl in a furry vest at the Prada show, here it is!

Love it or Hate it??? Furry Vests…

Isabel Marant is my all time favorite designer. Every time I go to Paris, I schedule my first day around making a trip to her store. The above image is an Isabel Marant ad from a French magazine. The most common high-street trend I saw was the furry vest. It’s kind of a weird trapper-chic look. I’m not a fur person (I only wear it if it’s vintage), what do you think? Love it or Hate it?

Anna Sui vs. Forever 21

Anna Sui gave these t-shirts as a part of the goodie bags at her Spring 08 show. The shirt bears the faces of Don and Jin Chang, the owners of Forever 21. The shirt says, “thou shalt not steal”. I love it.

Latest Obsession…Mad Men

Over the holiday weekend Leo and I have become obsessed with the AMC show, Mad Men. It’s one of the best shows I’ve seen in a while, and the costume design makes it doubly worth watching. The show is based on the men in the ad agency profession in the 60’s, and highlights the good and bad of that period in terms of workplace ethics, gender roles, and fashion.

After watching the show, I’ve been increasingly interested in all the slimmer retro shapes that keep popping up for fall. The dress shown on the left is by Generra, and the dress to the right is Robert Rodriguez.

Oxford Shoes

Steve vs. Stuart

Recreations of the classic oxford shoe popped up across many of the fall runways, most notably Marc Jacobs and Zac Posen. I am happy to report that this adorable trend it is now available for to the rest of us. While cruising Walnut Street the other afternoon, I stumbled upon these gray beauties. Who needs Stuart Weitzman when you have Steve Madden. What do you girls think?

Denim Debate…Acid Wash

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

Denim has been pretty calm for a bit now… Lately we’ve been battling with the idea of wide leg jeans (which no one ever wears on the street) and colored jeans (which seem like a good idea, until you get in the changing room)…but now we have a new debate on our hands. What is going on with acid-washed denim? I tried on a pair this weekend to see what the fuss was about. I hated to actually like them, but I did really like them. But in the end, I walked out of the shop empty handed (but only because they were too long, and they had pesky ankle zippers). So what do you think, love them or leave them?

Paul Smith…Pink

paul_smith_pink_11.jpg

I never really paid much attention to Paul Smith (I thought he just did stripes, or something…) but these days people are always going on about him. So when Joy posted about the Pink line I decided to check it out. Some of the photos are super cute, although I always fall for any sort of nature-y fashion shoot.

Twist Bandeau…

I’ve been doing a lot of swimsuit searching lately in preparation for my honeymoon in Italy, and the twist bandeau tops are by far the cutest new swim shape. This shape is super flattering for so many body types, and it’s sure to keep away nasty tan lines. This one pictured here is Tommy Bahama (available at Nordstroms). I recommend sizing down so that your top doesn’t slide off.

I love the british shop Toast’s on-line store. I caught sight of it over on Lena’s blog. I love the above caftan and the below beach items, so cute!

Love in a bag…

Love in a bag. Recently while Leo and I have been planning our honeymoon to Italy, we realized we needed some ‘grown-up’ luggage. I came across this amazing Diane Von Furstenberg suitcase the other day, and just fell in love. It would be so easy to find it twirling around the luggage carousel! Oh well, enough dreaming. We ended up getting a very sensible set of swissgear cases, which are good in their own right.

Olly and Suzi for Topshop…

I love Olly and Suzi’s new t-shirt collection for Topshop. In such a pro-green fashion moment, this collaboration is wonderful (and dare I say, grossly trendy). But regardless, I love Olly and Suzi’s drawing style as well as creative concept. The two met as art students and have spent their creative careers approaching wildlife in it’s natural habitat, and together working to ‘capture their prey on paper’. Check out their book here, Olly and Suzi: Arctic, Desert, Ocean, Jungle.
